As you probably guessed you will need a bread machine for this recipe. I LOVE this recipe because it is wheat bread but it is so soft and moist which is hard to find with wheat breads. This recipe is from my husband! He and I did some research on bread and he picked from some recipes and then added a few things that I wanted to see in my bread, such as wheat bran and flax seed! This is the only bread we make. We don't buy loafs of bread any more, and we eat more of this bread then we have with any bread before. We usually go through 2 loafs in a week to a week and a half (depending on what my husband is eating at work). There are some changes that we are talking about making just to reduce the calories. Right now we are using country crock light for the butter but we are thinking of exchanging it for applesauce!
Ingredients:
2 tsp active dry yeast
1 1/2 tsp sea salt
1 1/2 Tbs sugar
1 1/2 Tbs nonfat dry milk powder
4 Tbs Wheat Gluten
2 Tbs butter
2cups hot tap water (110degrees)
3 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup milled flaxseed
1/4 cup Wheat Bran
1. place yeast in a small bowl followed by the next four ingredients, set aside.
2. Put water in bread machine followed by butter. Then add flour flaxseed and wheat bran.
3. make sure that all the dry ingredients cover the wet ingredients, you don't want the yeast to touch the wet ingredients until the machine is well into the mixing process.
4. Add the ingredients in the bowl and set the machine to Wheat, large loaf medium color. Start machine
5. After the machine has done 1 mix and 1 rise shut the machine off, reset it for the same setting and start again. The purpose of this is to give the bread 3 full kneads, which helps to make the bread lighter and fluffy, like white bread!

*Note: this is a LARGE load! I usually slice my loaf into 12 slices and then cut them in half to make 24 servings. they aren't as wide as store bought bread but they are more filling and sometimes a little thicker!
